Civitai stops letting generation pay be cashed out from November 1

From November 1, Civitai creators still earn generation compensation on every generation, but it no longer counts toward bankable Buzz — only licensing fees and other named earnings can be cashed out.

Civitai has changed what its creators can cash out. In an October 13 update to its 2026 Creator Program, the platform said that starting November 1, 2026, generation compensation no longer counts toward what a creator can bank in the program. Creators still earn it on every generation, member or not, and can spend it anywhere on the site — it just cannot be turned into a payout anymore.

What stays bankable is narrower. Members can bank Buzz into the monthly Creator Program pool and be paid their share, up to a tier cap. Bankable Buzz is what a creator held on November 1, plus later earnings from licensing fees, paid and early access, tips from other users, donations, shop sales, bounties, App author fees, and sticker, remix and promotion fees. Buzz bought or received with a membership after November 1 is not bankable either.

The workaround is written into the change. Tips people add when they generate with a model are bankable, and Civitai tells creators who want generation earnings to stay bankable to set a licensing fee on their models. The caps still apply: Bronze banks 100,000 a month, Silver 125% of its best month, and Gold 150%.

From the crate: Civitai — if generation pay can no longer leave the site, say so plainly where creators set their prices, so the licensing fee is a choice they make in time, not a lesson at payout.
